Week three. October 2014.

LOOK:

QUESTION:
I was intrigued by two things: the glow of the two lights through the window and the oddly-symmetrical asymmetry of the facade.

PAINT:

Bistro in the Rain, 12" x 12" oil on canvas, SOLD
This painting is hanging in the show Paint Lexington at Nelson Gallery through October 2014. Click on the link to see the rest of the show.  Please visit my website www.elizabethsauder.com to see more of my work.

FIELD NOTES:
I enjoy chatting with the folks who stop to watch as I paint. I've even sold my paintings straight off the easel to them. But on this drizzly day the visitor didn't want to buy my painting... he wanted to buy my rain hat!

Week two. October 2014.

LOOK:

QUESTION:
What colors can I see in that big mass of dark values?

LOOK:

Hay Spear, 8" x 10", oil on gessoed paper, $500 framed.
This painting is hanging in a show at Nelson Gallery through October 2014 and is available for purchase there.
If it's still available after October you can visit my website www.elizabethsauder.com and purchase it there.

FIELD NOTES:
A quiet, muffled morning painting in the soft drizzle. I'm not sure I would have gone out if I hadn't been participating in Nelson Gallery's Paint Lexington plein air paint-out. I'm glad I did... it's always much nicer being outdoors in the rain than it seems indoors looking at it out the window.
